Cambodia Reaffirms Full Respect for Ceasefire Agreement Signed in Putrajaya

The overall situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border remains under control, despite provocative acts by the Thai side—particularly in the Anseh area, which lies within Cambodian sovereign territory.

“From midnight until 6:00 a.m. this morning, Aug. 6, 2025, the situation along the frontline in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remained calm and steady,” said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing.

She reaffirmed that Cambodian armed forces remain strong, vigilant, and fully committed to their duties, and that Cambodia continues to strictly respect and implement the ceasefire agreement reached with Thailand on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

The spokesperson also confirmed that, through discussions and negotiations, the barbed wire laid illegally by Thai troops in the Anseh area on Aug. 4, 2025 were dismantled yesterday afternoon, and the accompanying Thai machinery ceased operations.

“The Anseh area is under Cambodian sovereignty and has remained under the control of Cambodian armed forces since the ceasefire came into effect at midnight on July 28, 2025,” H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reiterated.
