IOT Leaves for Observation Mission in Border Provinces


The Interim Observer Team (IOT) led by Brigadier General Dato’ Pahlawan Asri bin Shukor, Head of Mission (HOM) of the IOT, departed here this afternoon for an observation mission in Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey provinces.

The mission is facilitated by the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to the Ministry, the delegation, comprising representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam, will go to the Team Sites at the two provinces to observe, verify, and report on the situation following the Ceasefire Agreement.

The IOT delegates arrived in Phnom Penh on Wednesday. They were received this morning in a courtesy meeting and working discussion by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence.

“Their presence represents the active participation of ASEAN member states, particularly Malaysia, in its role as Chair, in supporting a peaceful resolution between the two nations,” said the Ministry.
