Czech Ambassador Vows to Deepen and Expand Ties with Cambodia Ahead of Diplomatic Milestone

In a meeting underscoring a seven-decade partnership, the Czech Republic pledged to significantly deepen and broaden its bilateral relations with Cambodia.

The commitment comes as both nations prepare to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

Czech Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Ms. Markéta Kolc Hájková, conveyed the pledge during a working meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Tuesday.

Ambassador Kolc Hájková acknowledged the enduring and friendly ties between the two countries, thanking the Prime Minister for the audience. She emphasised her intent to collaborate with Cambodian stakeholders to develop substantive initiatives worthy of the upcoming 70th-anniversary milestone in 2026.

The Ambassador reaffirmed her personal dedication to advancing the bilateral partnership across multiple fronts.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet extended his congratulations to Ambassador Kolc Hájková on her new posting and expressed firm confidence that her tenure would see a meaningful expansion of cooperation.

The discussions focused on identifying concrete pathways to enhance collaboration in priority sectors, including agriculture, technology, tourism, education, healthcare, infrastructure, defence and security. Both sides stressed the critical role of fostering stronger private-sector linkages to drive economic opportunities.

In closing, Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the Ambassador to maintain close coordination with relevant Cambodian ministries and wished her success in her diplomatic mission.
