Thai Forces Fire Large Amount of Toxic Gas in Thmar Da Area


Thai military forces have continued their armed aggression against Cambodia in the 5th Military Region, targeting Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, on Dec. 15.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of National Defence, at 12:56 p.m., Thai forces used drones to disperse a large amount of toxic gas over the Thmar Da area.

The Ministry also reported earlier attacks on other battlefields in the same military region:

9:02 a.m. – Thai forces deployed bomb-dropping drones into the Prey Chan area.

9:52 a.m. – Continued shelling was reported in the Chouk Chey village area.

10:10 a.m. – Artillery fire struck the Boeung Trakuon area.

11:28 a.m. – Two bombs were dropped by Thai F-16 fighter jets on the Pouy Samrong area, Preah Netr Preah commune, Preah Netr Preah district, Banteay Meanchey province.

11:32 a.m. – Thai F-16 fighter jets were observed flying over O’Beichoan commune and the Boeung Trakuon area.

12:06 p.m. – Reconnaissance drones were deployed to monitor areas behind Chouk Chey village.

The Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed that Cambodian forces continue to stand strong and resolute in fulfilling their duty to defend the nation against Thailand’s invasion and to safeguard Cambodia’s territorial integrity.

Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has renewed its attacks on Cambodian territory and expanded operations across multiple locations deep inside the country. These operations have included the use of heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, artillery, and toxic gas, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to homes, temples, and health centres, the temporary closure of hundreds of schools, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Cambodia has stated that it was compelled to respond in self-defence to repeated violations of its territorial integrity after exercising more than 24 hours of maximum restraint.
