Cambodia, Laos Forge Joint Tourism Strategy with ‘Two Countries, One Destination’ Campaign

Cambodia and Laos have formalised a pact to jointly market their tourism sectors under a unified “Two Countries, One Destination” campaign, deepening bilateral cooperation to attract international visitors.

The agreement was finalised during the Second Cambodia-Laos Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in Phnom Penh on Monday.

Cambodian Tourism Minister H.E. Huot Hak met with Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Ms. Darany Phommavongsa, to align tourism strategies.

Following a review of prior cooperation outcomes, both ministers endorsed an updated Joint Action Plan for 2025–2026. The plan aims to streamline travel facilitation, enhance human resource development, and intensify collaborative marketing.

Central to the strategy is the launch of the co-branded “Two Countries, One Destination” initiative. The campaign will promote integrated tourist experiences, highlighting shared cultural heritage, culinary traditions, community-based tourism, and ecotourism routes across both nations.

In a statement, Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership will significantly boost tourist arrivals. Officials from both countries emphasised that increased tourism will bolster economic growth, improve local livelihoods, and reinforce longstanding ties between Cambodia and Laos.
