Cambodia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors during a high-level meeting held in Phnom Penh on Feb. 3.
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received visiting H.E. Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani, Honourable Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, at the Peace Palace as part of the latter’s four-day official visit to Cambodia from Feb. 2 to 5.
During the meeting, H.E. Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani expressed appreciation for Cambodia’s warm hospitality and noted that 2026 marks the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He recalled that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise Cambodia’s independence and highlighted shared strengths in agriculture and a dynamic young workforce.
He praised existing bilateral cooperation and voiced confidence that the visit would inject new momentum into relations, particularly between the two legislatures.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the Pakistani delegation, stressing that the visit reflected the growing ties between the two countries’ legislative institutions. He expressed confidence that the visit would help expand cooperation into new areas, reaffirming Cambodia’s readiness to support closer parliamentary and bilateral engagement.
Both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in multiple sectors, including politics and diplomacy, security and defence, trade and investment, agriculture, technology, mining, manufacturing, education and vocational training, culture, tourism, health, and people-to-people exchanges. They encouraged relevant ministries and the private sectors of both countries to strengthen linkages and explore new opportunities.
The two sides also agreed to continue close coordination and cooperation in regional and international forums.
