PM: Cambodia, Singapore Still Have More Room to Expand Bilateral Cooperation


Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has stated that Cambodia and Singapore still have significant room to further expand their bilateral cooperation.

The Cambodian Premier made the remarks while receiving a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng, outgoing Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, at the Peace Palace on Monday morning.

Samdech Thipadei noted that Cambodia and Singapore possess strong potential and many opportunities to deepen and strengthen cooperation in key areas, including economy, trade and investment, education, and technical and vocational training.

The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to Singapore for its support and encouragement of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei briefed the outgoing diplomat on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation and reiterated Cambodia’s firm commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with international law, conventions, treaties, and existing bilateral agreements between the two countries.

For her part, H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng expressed her hope that the border issue would be resolved peacefully and reaffirmed her confidence that Cambodia-Singapore relations and cooperation will continue to grow stronger.

The outgoing Ambassador also conveyed her satisfaction and high appreciation for the excellent cooperation between the two countries. She highlighted her pride in fulfilling her diplomatic mission in Cambodia, during which she witnessed many of the Kingdom’s major achievements, including efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the successful hosting of the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, as well as the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.
