Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received visiting H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), and her delegation, at the Peace Palace on Monday afternoon.
During the meeting, the OIF Secretary-General expressed her pleasure at returning to Cambodia on a working visit. She informed the Prime Minister that the purpose of her visit was to discuss and review all stages of preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, which Cambodia will host.
In this regard, H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo highly appreciated Cambodia’s preparations and reaffirmed the OIF’s continued support, assuring that the summit would be held smoothly and successfully. She underscored the importance of the 20th Francophonie Summit for French-speaking countries and voiced confidence that, with Cambodia as host, the summit would be well organised and successful. She also expressed hope that many leaders from Francophone countries and partner states would attend, demonstrating solidarity and fraternity within the Francophone community.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended warm welcome to H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo and her delegation, noting that this was their second meeting following their first encounter in Paris, France.
The Prime Minister stressed that Cambodia is honoured and pleased to host the 20th Francophonie Summit and expressed his appreciation to the OIF Secretariat for its support in the preparation of this important event. He further highlighted Cambodia’s readiness in terms of logistics, security, and related arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the summit.
Samdech Thipadei also informed the OIF Secretary-General that Cambodia plans to organise three side events alongside the summit, namely: (1) Francophonie Entrepreneurship Forum, (2) Village Francophone, and (3) FrancoTech.
