Nearly 1,000 runners, including senior Royal Government officials and national athletes, took part in a charity run in the capital Sunday to raise funds for improving educational infrastructure in Cambodia’s remote border regions.
The “Run for Education and Support Border Schools” event was held at the Olympic National Stadium under the banner of “Solidarity for Education.” Participants included members of the public, all rallying to support schools and students in areas impacted by geographic isolation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron flagged off the event and praised the collaborative effort. He extended thanks to Phnom Penh City Hall, the Khmer Amateur Athletics Federation, youth volunteer groups, and organizing communities such as CamEdX and Run With Sai for their support.
In his address, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron expressed confidence that continued partnerships would be instrumental in restoring and upgrading school facilities in the border areas.
According to the Ministry of Education, proceeds from the event are designated for schools affected by local conditions, aiming to bolster teacher morale, enhance infrastructure, and provide essential learning materials.
