H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, has highlighted the transformative role of trade in services in accelerating national development, during a high-level event in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on Mar. 25.

H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul shared Cambodia’s trade in sevices for development while participating as a speaker in the Ministerial Side Event on Trade in Services for Development (TS4D), alongside other Ministers from Ghana, Jamaica, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and United Kingdom.

During the event, she highly appreciated the contribution of the services trade to Cambodia’s economy and stressed the potential of services trade in development for development, economic diversification, resilient and inclusive growth.

“Cambodia has been training workforce, especially in digital education, to be ready for leveraging services trade through utilising the market access for service providers under regional and multilateral agreements,” she said.

To support this growing sector, the Royal Government of Cambodia has rolled out a series of policies to bolster the digital economy.

These include a legal framework for e-commerce trust marks, streamlined VAT registration for digital businesses, roadmaps for digital literacy and governance, and a comprehensive e-commerce law.

During her stay in Yaoundé, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul also participated and delivered welcome remarks at the High-level Launch of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) Phase Three, which Cambodia co-hosted alongside United Arab Emirates and the EIF Executive Secretariat.

In the remarks, she expressed great honour in co-hosting the event and highly valued the EIF as a vital partnership that has supported LDCs in integrating into the global trading system.

H.E. Minister also highlighted achievements that Cambodia has attained through strong support and collaboration with the EIF.
