Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his satisfaction with the steady progress and achievements of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA) in attracting an increasing number of Japanese investors to Cambodia.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, the remarks were made following a courtesy call by H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of JCA, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on April 1.
During the meeting, H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki expressed his pleasure and admiration for Cambodia’s continuous development, noting that each visit to the country reveals new signs of progress. He also voiced pride in contributing, together with his colleagues, to encouraging Japanese investors to invest in Cambodia.
He highlighted Cambodia’s strong potential, particularly in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which the JCA considers a key area of focus. The association is actively promoting increased investment in this sector. He further underlined Cambodia’s rich natural resources, combined with Japan’s strengths in technology and technical expertise, as a foundation for producing more goods for export to international markets.
In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed these remarks and expressed his appreciation for the association’s role since its establishment in Cambodia. He noted that JCA has made important contributions to attracting Japanese investment and supporting Cambodia’s economic development. He also acknowledged the Japanese government’s continued assistance to Cambodia.
The Acting Head of State reiterated the importance of promoting investment in SMEs, emphasising that, during his tenure as Prime Minister, he had consistently prioritised this sector as a key driver of Cambodia’s economic growth and development. He encouraged further expansion of investment in SMEs to sustain economic progress.
