Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak has called for accelerating digital transformation to modernise Cambodia’s tourism sector and enhance its competitiveness in line with global tourism trends.
The remarks were made during a meeting of the Ministry of Tourism’s Digital Transformation Working Group held on May 14 to review progress and discuss future priorities.
The meeting brought together senior ministry officials, deputy directors-general, department heads, deputy institute directors, and civil servants of the Ministry of Tourism, with a total of 39 participants attending.
The session focused on reviewing implementation progress, evaluating achievements, and identifying future directions for promoting digital technologies aimed at making Cambodia’s tourism sector more modern, innovative, and sustainable, in line with the Royal Government’s policies and strategies.
During the meeting, H.E. Huot Hak highlighted the importance of improving administrative efficiency, strengthening tourism data management, enhancing digital tourism promotion, and applying new technologies to improve service quality and increase the sector’s competitiveness.
The Minister also instructed the working group to continue strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing cooperation to ensure that digital transformation initiatives effectively respond to evolving global tourism trends and the changing needs of tourists.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia welcomed approximately 1 million international tourists in the first quarter of 2026. Chinese visitors ranked first among international arrivals, with more than 240,000 tourists.
