Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, has praised civil servants, provincial and local council members, and authorities in Kampong Chhnang province for their efforts in delivering public services and maintaining social order and security.
Speaking during a meeting with 966 provincial, city, district, commune, and Sangkat council members, as well as leaders of provincial departments and units on May 27 at the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Hall, Samdech Techo commended officials for their dedication to serving the people and helping preserve security, public order, and social stability.
He also urged all officials, particularly commune and Sangkat council members, to continue fulfilling their duties responsibly and to improve the delivery of essential public services in a fast, effective, and efficient manner.
During the event, Samdech Techo announced that those who are of eligible age would fulfil military service obligations in accordance with Cambodia’s Law on Military Conscription.
He stressed that the implementation of the law would apply equally to all citizens. Under the law, Cambodian citizens aged between 18 and 25 are required to perform military service, while participation for women remains voluntary.
Samdech Techo also reiterated his continued attention to the proposed construction of roads and bridges linking Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Thom provinces and said he had requested Chinese partners to consider supporting the project.
He underlined the importance of strengthening transport connectivity around the Tonle Sap region, both by land and water, to improve people’s livelihoods.
The Acting Head of State further recalled the National Road 50C project connecting Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Thom provinces, which he had announced during his tenure as Prime Minister, noting that the project has yet to commence.
Samdech Techo also reminded authorities to continue safeguarding national stability and social order through the implementation of the Safe Village-Commune Policy, including crackdowns on crimes such as theft, robbery, and drug trafficking.
He urged local authorities to continue supporting frontline soldiers’ families, disabled veterans, and former combatants, while also accelerating the resolution of land disputes through effective and impartial mechanisms, particularly outside the court system.
In addition, he called on local authorities to actively participate in protecting natural resources and preventing environmental destruction in their communities.
The visit marked Samdech Techo’s ninth provincial mission covering 10 capital and provincial administrations, following previous visits to Kampong Cham, Thbong Khmum, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kampot, Kep, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Phnom Penh. The purpose of the meetings is to strengthen accountability between the Senate and its electoral base, promote transparency, enhance local governance efficiency, and reinforce ties with local authorities while reminding officials to improve their public service responsibilities.
