Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Tibor Baloghdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on May 27.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of Cambodia-Hungary relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and parliamentary ties for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.
Samdech Khuon Sudary praised the longstanding friendship and partnership between Cambodia and Hungary, noting that relations between the two nations have continued to deepen based on mutual trust, respect, understanding, and support.
She also commended Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi and his colleagues for their efforts in expanding cooperation in various sectors, including legislative and executive collaboration as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Recalling her official visit to Hungary in 2025, Samdech described the trip as fruitful and memorable, reflecting the strong friendship and trust between the two countries, while expressing appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the Cambodian delegation.
The National Assembly President highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in water resource management, food security, and agriculture, while stressing the symbolic significance of connecting the Danube and Mekong rivers as part of sustainable development cooperation.
Samdech also recalled her experience studying in Hungary during the 1980s, noting that the warm hospitality she received left a lasting impression and contributed to strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
For his part, Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Cambodia and voiced satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral and parliamentary relations, particularly following Samdech Khuon Sudary’s visit to Hungary.
The Ambassador also highlighted education and academic exchanges as an important pillar of bilateral relations, welcoming the increasing number of Cambodian students studying in Hungary and expressing hope for more Hungarian students to study in Cambodia.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and agreed to closely cooperate in commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Hungary in 2026.
