China’s CRCC Seek to Expand Infrastructure, Green Energy Investment in Cambodia

China Railway Construction Corp. (CRCC) has expressed strong interest in expanding its investments in Cambodia, focusing on transport, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy, during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

In a meeting held Wednesday in Beijing, CRCC Chairman Dai Hegen briefed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on the state-owned enterprise’s global footprint and its long-standing operations in Cambodia, which began in 2008.

Mr. Dai highlighted several of the company’s major completed projects in Cambodia, including the Battambang water supply system, the Cambodia Sports Village, the Ministry of National Defence administrative building, and the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital. He also expressed gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its continued support, which he credited for the company’s local success.

Looking forward, Mr. Dai stated that CRCC aims to scale up its presence in Cambodia by targeting key sectors such as transportation infrastructure, digital systems, renewable energy, and integrated investment, construction, and operation projects.

In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed CRCC’s expansion plans, emphasising that transport infrastructure remains a top priority for his administration.

While Cambodia has achieved significant progress in developing road and waterway networks over the past two decades, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet noted that the Royal Government is currently prioritising the development and modernisation of the country’s railway services.

The Cambodian leader encouraged CRCC to maintain close coordination with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to translate these investment proposals into concrete projects in the near future.

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet is paying an official working visit to China from July 15 to 17 to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).
