Cambodia-Thailand Relations Tightened Despite COVID-19 Crisis


The bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand have been further strengthened and expanded in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a farewell meeting here at the Peace Palace this morning, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and outgoing Thai Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Panyarak Poolthup, noted a better relationship between the two neighbours, especially in trade exchange which rose by 10 percent despite the COVID-19 crisis, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier.

The outgoing Thai diplomat congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) on the successful control of the pandemic, and thanked the RGC for providing COVID-19 vaccines for the diplomatic officers and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy as well as those of other foreign embassies in Cambodia.

H.E. Panyarak Poolthup also spoke highly of Cambodia’s successful hosting of the recent 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related meetings, which reflects the strong role of Cambodia on the international arena.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen lauded the good relations and cooperation between the two Kingdoms, particularly in the fields of trade and education during H.E. Panyarak Poolthup’s diplomatic mission, and wished him success in his future missions.
