ASEAN Regional Digital Innovation Promotion Discussed


The Meeting of Committee on Economic Matters of the 43rd General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) has discussed three draft decisions to promote economic growth, small and medium micro-enterprises capacity, and digital innovation in the ASEAN region.

The meeting took place here in Phnom Penh on Nov. 22 under the chairmanship of H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit of the National Assembly of Cambodia.

Representatives from AIPA member countries including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Indonesia and Vietnam also joined the meeting.

The meeting agreed to strengthen the friendship, unity and cooperation in the field in the region in order to foster a sustainable growth, economic recovery, and support for AIPA parliaments to existing agreements like RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership).

It also looked into connectivity of business and green investment, clean energy development, digital trade, and sustainable and inclusive transnational trade in the region.

Cambodia is hosting the 43rd AIPA General Assembly from Nov. 20 to 25.
