Samdech Techo Hun Sen Interprets Public’s Support for CPP in July Election

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, outgoing Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in his last speech as the Prime Minister interpreted the citizen’s landslide support for the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) in the recent general elections.

Addressing to the inauguration ceremony of the third ring road held in Kandal province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, also CPP President, said the citizens’ votes for CPP in the 7th National Election on July 23, 2023 gave three important messages.

“First, trust in CPP’s people; second, trust in Hun Sen; and third, trust in Hun Manet as my successor,” he underlined. “These are the clear message from the people that the opposition must understand clearly. You [the opposition] cannot continue to be wrong again and again.”

“Please understand, democracy or non-democracy, it depends on the people going to vote or not to vote,” he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued that the national and international observers who came here are living witnesses of the democratic process in Cambodia. It does not depend on one or two countries to undermine Cambodia’s elections.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated that extremism policy needs to be eliminated from Cambodia. Any group that intends to associate with the extremist groups should not be exempt, and legal action will be taken against the extremist groups.
