Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), has leaked a secret information on the possible establishment of a government-in-exile abroad.
Addressing the commemoration of the CPP’s 73rd founding anniversary held here at January 7 Palace this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said there were some movements in an attempt to form a government-in-exile to which we have to pay close attention.
“The initiative to form a government-in-exile has begun, and I would like to confirm that any party, any organisation in the country affiliated with the government-in-exile must be immediately disbanded,” he underlined.
“This is a necessary duty to ensure the protection of the nation’s stability. We cannot allow them to have a government abroad and have members operating in the country. I call on the Royal Government to consider this issue, especially amend the law on political parties and other related laws for legal action,” added Samdech Techo Hun Sen, also President of the Senate.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said for 73 years, the CPP has been the only political force that has always lived with the people despite the very complex and changing national situation. The Party has consistently adhered to its purpose and ideals, that is mobilising the force of the whole nation who have patriotic ideals and love democracy and peace, regardless of their socio-economic status, ethnicity, religious faiths, and past in order to join forces to liberate the nation; defend the motherland; protect the achievements of the nation and society; and build an independent, peaceful, free, democratic, neutral, and socially progressive Cambodia.
