Cambodian and Chinese Media Cooperation to Further Expand


The media cooperation between Cambodia and China will be further expand to build more trust and mutual benefits of the readers and viewers for the two nations.

The cooperation in this sector has been discussed deeply at the 3rd Elephant International Communication Forum held yesterday in Yunnan, China.

Addressing the forum, H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information of Cambodia, said the close collaboration between news media of Cambodia and China not only reaffirms the long-standing and strong friendship between the two nations, but also highlights the vital role of media in promoting socio-economic development and international cooperation.

H.E. Minister added that the Ministry of Information of Cambodia is firmly committed to supporting the development of the media industry, embracing digital transformation, and conveying authentic information about Cambodia to both domestic and international audiences. “Our strong commitment can be proven through the engagement and cooperation between the Ministry of Information and various media outlets in Cambodia with radios, TVs and news agencies from China”, he underlined.

Moreover, Cambodia and China have initiated the exchanges of news articles and photographs with agencies such as Xinhua News Agency, the People’s Daily and China Media Group, as well as media organizations from Yunnan, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces.

In addition, media in both nations have produced and broadcasted various programs in English, Khmer, and Chinese. The Ministry of Information also closely collaborate and work with media outlets invested by Chinese investors in Cambodia. Also, the Khmer magazine showcases information about Cambodia and China’s economy, culture, and technology, enjoying considerable popularity among Cambodian readers and viewers thus serving as a bridge for communications and understanding, he said.

Additionally, the two nations have collaborated with Chinese news organizations to conduct interviews and training sessions focused on news technology. These partnerships not only enhance the quality of news reporting but also promote information sharing and mutual understanding between the peoples of Cambodia and China.
