PM Reaffirms Government’s Continued Commitment to Education Reform and Modernisation


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirmed here this morning that the Royal Government will continue to pay attention to the reform and modernisation of the country’s education system.

Addressing a get-together with 2,225 students who have recently got their baccalaureate with grade A, and Level 3 Technical and Vocational Diploma, at Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the number of grade A students has significantly increased from 11 in 2014 to over 2,000 in 2024.

“This is a success and a pride of Cambodia in the education sector,” Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister underlined.

The Premier added that education modernisation has to be conducted further, but reading and Khmer literature must not be ignored. “Despite modern technology, school libraries should not be eliminated. […]. Don’t forget book reading and Khmer literature […],” he said.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet took this opportunity to clarify that Khmer will remain the national language in all education programme in the Kingdom, while foreign languages are just secondary languages.

“We are Cambodians, we must learn Khmer,” stressed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, calling on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to strengthen the basic of Khmer learning from the primary level.
