Cambodia Nears Completion of Nationwide Land Registration by 2026

Cambodia’s nationwide land registration effort is approaching its final stages, with approximately four million land parcels officially registered to date.

Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, H.E. Say Samal, announced that only 500,000 parcels remain unregistered, and the process is set to conclude by 2026.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new headquarters of the Takeo Provincial Gendarmerie in Sangkat Roka Krao, Daun Keo city this morning, H.E. Say Samal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finalising land registration.

He emphasised that completing this process will enhance land security for citizens and significantly reduce land disputes.

The minister also highlighted that the large-scale registration efforts have already contributed to a sharp decline in land conflicts across Cambodia.

According to him, fewer than 1,000 land dispute cases remain under the ministry’s jurisdiction, with officials actively working to resolve them.

Regarding ongoing issues with housing development projects, the deputy prime minister noted that a significant portion of disputes has been resolved. Currently, only around 20 housing projects still require intervention, and the ministry is continuing efforts to address them.

The nationwide land registration initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve land ownership security, promote economic stability, and prevent future land conflicts.
