The Korean Water Resources Corporation, known as K-water, the Korean governmental agency for comprehensive water resource development and providing both public and industrial water in South Korea, is exploring investment potential in Cambodia’s water resource management sector.
K-water’s interest to invest in Cambodia was revealed when Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Dr. Yun Seog-dae, President of K-water and Chairman of the Asian Water Council (AWC), and his delegation, at the Peace Palace here this morning.
Besides, H.E. Dr. Yun Seog-dae briefed the Premier on some of the fruitful cooperation between K-water and Cambodian relevant ministries and institutions.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the past cooperation between K-water and relevant ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially in the field of water resources management.
The Prime Minister encouraged K-water to work with relevant ministries and institutions to study water resources management in Cambodia in line with the Royal Government’s policies, focusing on a comprehensive assessment of the strengths and impacts of the project on the society, economy and environment.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also emphasised the Royal Government’s objective to ensure a highly efficient water resources management system in order to ensure sufficient water resources in both the rainy and dry seasons for the benefit of the people, as well as to develop an ecological system serving the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors and managing the risk of floods in the rainy season and drought in the dry season.
