Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology H.E. Thor Chetha led a high-level delegation from the ministry to attend the 3rd Mekong-Korea International Water Forum 2025 under the theme “Enhancing Climate Resilience and Sustainable Water Management” in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.

According to the ministry’s news release issued on Monday, the two-day event, held on Mar. 24 and 25, was organised by the Ministry of Environment and the Mekong-Korea Water Centre (KOMEC), aimed to provide a platform for discussing and addressing various issues related to water management and climate resilience while promoting partnerships and cooperation for sustainable development in the Mekong region.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Thor Chetha emphasised Cambodia’s commitment to water resources and meteorology, outlining a clear mission and vision to ensure water security for sustainable development across all sectors. H.E. highlighted Cambodia’s active role in improving transboundary water management and regional cooperation within the Mekong, striving for shared prosperity, environmental sustainability, and regional stability.

The minister also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Korea, all Mekong countries, and other partners to enhance joint efforts and high-level partnerships toward achieving shared development goals.

The Mekong-Korea International Water Forum (MKWF) is a key platform for water cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Mekong region.

Established in 2022, it involves the participation of five Mekong countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Since its inception, the forum has been held three times, first in Seoul in 2022, followed by Incheon in 2023, and now in Daejeon in 2025 demonstrating ongoing efforts to foster sustainable water management and climate resilience in the region.
