Phnom Penh Hosts First Iranian Film Week in Cambodia

Phnom Penh capital is hosting the inaugural Iranian Film Week in Cambodia from April 30 to May 4, featuring screenings of acclaimed Iranian films at Legend Olympia.

The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Hab Touch, Acting Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, and H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia. The event welcomed around 150 attendees, including foreign ambassadors accredited to Cambodia, representatives from ministries and institutions, as well as film producers and artists.

The first Iranian Film Week aims to foster friendship, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties between the two nations. It also seeks to provide a platform for filmmakers, artists, and industry professionals to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for co-productions and investment, with the goal of advancing the film industries of both countries.

In his remarks, H.E. Hab Touch expressed Cambodia’s pride in its cultural partnership with Iran and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to deepening cooperation through cultural initiatives and mutual support in international forums.

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts welcomed the organisation of the event and expressed its continued support for future editions of Iranian Film Week in Cambodia, aiming to further enhance mutual understanding between the two ancient and culturally rich nations.
