Cambodia and Vietnam Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Media Cooperation

Cambodia and Vietnam have pledged to enhance the implementation of their bilateral media cooperation agreement, originally signed in 2023, with a renewed focus on combating disinformation, promoting information exchange, and developing human resources in the media sector.

Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra praised the strong relationship and collaboration between the two countries in the media field during a bilateral meeting with H.E. Le Hai Binh, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the sidelines of the 17th Conference of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) and Related Meetings in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei on May 7.

Both sides reaffirmed their joint commitment to fight fake news and misinformation, which they recognised as growing challenges in both regional and global contexts. They emphasised the strategic importance of their partnership in ensuring accurate and ethical information flow.

On the occasion, H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra extended an official invitation to his Vietnamese counterpart to attend the upcoming 20th Asia Media Summit, which Cambodia will host in Siem Reap in July 2025. The summit is expected to bring together media leaders and policymakers from across the region to discuss pressing issues in the media landscape.
