The Cambodia-Thailand Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) on Humanitarian Demining held a meeting via VTC this afternoon to discuss and identify pilot area in the priority border areas for Humanitarian Demining,
This meeting took place in accordance with the spirit of the First Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), which shall be executed in compliance with the JCTF’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), according to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The identification of this pilot area for Humanitarian Demining shall be carried out in accordance with the criteria, conditions and positions of each side; also, the Humanitarian Demining activities in this area are without prejudice to the survey and demarcation of the land boundary, which is the authority of the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), she added.
For post-mined clearance areas, it shall be preserved in their original condition pending decision to be made by the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).
“This Humanitarian Demining work shall be carried out based on the principle of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity,” stressed the spokeswoman.
