Senate President: Agro-industrial Sector Has Been a Core Focus of the Government Since the Beginning

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen stated that the agro-industrial sector has been a key priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia from the outset, and the new government continues to view this sector, especially agricultural product processing as essential and a high priority.

The Senate President made these remarks during a meeting with Mr. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), and the 5th Japanese Investment Promotion Delegation at the January 7 Palace in Phnom Penh this morning, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his appreciation for the JCA’s active role in strengthening bilateral relations between Cambodia and Japan, particularly in fostering connections between the two peoples and attracting Japanese investors to Cambodia. He also welcomed the interest of Japanese investors in Cambodia’s agro-industrial and technology sectors.

The Senate President further emphasised that the Royal Government is focusing on the development of the technology sector, which is in high demand in Cambodia. He encouraged Japanese investors to explore and expand the potential of these sectors.

For his part, Mr. Takahashi Fumiaki highlighted that the 5th Japanese Investment Promotion Delegation, which is visiting Cambodia, consists of approximately 36 companies, representing investments in technology, vocational training, and agro-industry.

Mr. Takahashi expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly during Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s tenure as Prime Minister. He noted that this support has been crucial in building confidence among Japanese investors considering investment in Cambodia.
