Thai military forces have continued indiscriminate attacks on Cambodia, targeting civilian infrastructure—including schools, homes, and ancient sacred temples—resulting in the deaths of 10 civilians, including an infant, and injuring more than 60 others.
The update was delivered this morning during a press briefing by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, who questioned Thailand’s claim of being a peace-loving nation.
She stressed that, even prior to the latest wave of brutal and unlawful attacks on Cambodia, the Thai army had already violated all terms of the ceasefire agreement and the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Declaration on Peace. Despite repeated appeals from the international community to honour the agreement, Thailand has unilaterally withdrawn its recognition of it, while Cambodia has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to the accord and all relevant bilateral agreements.
“This clearly demonstrates which country – Cambodia or Thailand – truly loves peace and seeks to resolve disputes peacefully,” she said.
According to the Spokeswoman, the Thai military has committed numerous violations of international law, including the use of F-16 fighter jets to strike civilian areas, the deployment of toxic gas, the destruction of historic heritage sites such as the Temple of Preah Vihear and Ta Krabey Temple, and the indiscriminate use of heavy weaponry. These actions have caused casualties among innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.
“Instead of taking responsibility for its inhumane actions, the Thai army has blatantly shifted blame onto Cambodia, manufacturing excuses to justify its invasion of Cambodia’s sovereign territory and attacks on innocent people,” she stressed.
Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra also condemned the Thai military’s armed aggression and called on the international community to urge Thailand to implement the Joint Declaration on Peace signed on Oct. 26, 2025, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, the current ASEAN Chair, and to immediately halt its coercive campaign against Cambodia.
He reaffirmed that Cambodia is the victim of Thailand’s armed aggression, noting that Thailand has continuously fabricated pretexts to pressure and accuse Cambodia in an attempt to justify its actions.
