The National Assembly of Cambodia on Thursday adopted a draft law on combating technology-facilitated fraud for review.
The decision was made during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, chaired by its President, Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sodary. The committee approved the agenda, which included receiving the Royal Government-proposed draft law.
The draft law on combating technology-facilitated fraud will be referred to the Legislation and Justice Commission for review, in collaboration with the Commission of Interior, National Defense, Civil Service and Border Affairs. The commission will subsequently report its findings back to the Standing Committee.
The proposed legislation aims to establish criminal rules to enhance the effectiveness of combating technology-facilitated fraud, thereby contributing to the maintenance of security and public order, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fight against such crimes.
In addition to accepting the draft law for review, the Standing Committee also approved the inclusion of the draft law on amendments to the Law on the Election of Senators in the agenda for the upcoming 5th session of the National Assembly’s 7th legislature, following its complete review by the relevant expert commissions.
