The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar have entered into a partnership to promote cooperation, marking a positive step toward the realisation of the “Two Countries, One Destination” project.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation was signed in Yangon, Myanmar on June 16 by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, and H.E. Maung Myint, Minister of Hotels, Tourism and Culture of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Through this comprehensive and fruitful agreement, both parties resolved to achieve concrete outcomes by strengthening collaboration to jointly promote tourism potential, increase tourist flows between the two nations, and encourage more frequent and regular direct flights.
Furthermore, the partnership focuses on sharing experiences and best practices in tourism development and investment, alongside facilitating smoother travel for citizens, investors, and both domestic and international tourists.
The cooperation also aims to further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and maximise mutual benefits, particularly by accelerating the implementation of the “Two Countries, One Destination” initiative.
Cambodia and Myanmar have maintained diplomatic relations for 71 years, continuing to strengthen cooperation across various sectors, including tourism, through bilateral mechanisms and regional frameworks.
