Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Honorary President of the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, formally accepted a 160-million-Riel (US$40,000) donation from the Supreme Sangha Council on Wednesday, as part of the Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign for the nation’s leading Kantha Bopha children’s hospitals.
The handover ceremony, presided over by His Holiness Samdech Preah Moha Somethea Thipadei Am Limheng, Supreme Patriarch of the Mahanikaya of Cambodia, saw senior monks from across the nation rally behind the foundation to sustain free medical care at Kantha Bopha facilities in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
Accepting the contribution, Dr. Pich Chanmony expressed profound gratitude to the Buddhist order for its moral and financial leadership, noting the donation directly powers life-saving missions that “restore smiles and bring hope” to vulnerable families.
She used the platform to issue an urgent appeal for the “10,000 Riel, 10,000 People” campaign – a major 2026 drive designed to cover comprehensive care for infants, children, and pregnant women.
Emphasising the spirit of Khmers Helping Khmers, she called on the public and philanthropists to sustain the hospitals, which treat hundreds of thousands of patients annually at no cost.
“Every Riel secures a brighter future for our nation,” she said, urging continued solidarity to ensure no child is turned away.
