Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Dith Tina and U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Aleksandra P. Zittle on Wednesday inspected healthcare and humanitarian operations for displaced residents in Svay Chek district.
The joint delegation visited a local health post in Rong Cham village, Sla Kram commune, to assess the delivery of essential medical services to civilians evacuated from border conflict areas and to meet with local healthcare teams.
“Ensuring displaced citizens have safe shelter, necessary healthcare, and ongoing relief support is an urgent and top priority,” said H.E. Tina, who also serves as the head of the Royal Government Working Group for Banteay Meanchey province. “Our aid effort goes beyond material assistance to directly address people’s health, living conditions, and immediate needs.”
During the field visit, H.E. Zittle evaluated humanitarian support initiatives managed by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and funded by the United States.
The IOM-led programme focuses on delivering critical healthcare and basic services to vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly, and those requiring continuous medical care in temporary displacement sites.
Local officials and international representatives noted that the joint inspection underscores the ongoing coordination between the Royal Government of Cambodia, local authorities, the U.S. government, and international agencies to address humanitarian needs along the border.
