The Ministry of Environment will launch a campaign entitled “Tonle Sap Cleaning” on Mar. 1 to protect biodiversity and fisheries in the lake, which are a main source of nutrition for Cambodians.
The plan was unveiled by H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, during a meeting with Ms. Eda Kraja, Country Manager for Cambodia and Lao PDR of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Phnom Penh on Feb. 12.
Ms. Eda Kraja reiterated her commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the ministry, contributing to the ministry’s implementation of its strategic priorities.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth thanked the UNOPS for the commitment and for its contribution to Cambodia’s environmental conservation work.
He also updated his guest on the ministry’s successful implementation of plastic waste reduction-phase 1, with the participation of more than four million people, including students.
