Phnom Penh launches the first international choir competition with optimism for enhanced friendship and cultural development.
Minister of Culture and Fine Arts H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona chaired the opening of the competition, organised by the world’s leading organiser of international choir competitions and festivals INTERKULTUR in cooperation with All Dreams Cambodia, at Chaktomuk Conference Hall.
Addressing the opening of the event, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona highlighted that it is a special opportunity to further strengthen the development of culture and the arts in Cambodia as well as around the world.
Deputy Governor H.E. Keo Sok Pisey hoped that the international choir competition will become a symbol of peace and friendship among all participating countries.
The representative of INTERKULTUR Mr. Johan Rooze trusted that the support from the Royal Government of Cambodia will make the competition successful.
The Ministries of Culture and Fine Arts, Environment, Tourism, and Information, and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration are the key supporters of the event.
The contest takes place at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) from May 29 to June 1 and it is open to the public free of charge.
The event also includes public performances of friendship concerts at major malls and other special gatherings.
