ANA Collaborates with Korea Heritage Agency on Cultural Heritage Training

The APSARA National Authority (ANA) in partnership with the Korea Heritage Agency, launched a training programme aimed at enhancing the capacity to utilise cultural heritage.

According to the ANA’s news release on Oct. 7, the focus of the training includes conservation efforts, the development of tourism products, and the effective use of cultural heritage.

During the opening ceremony held at the Department of Public Order, ANA Deputy Director General H.E. Long Kosal expressed gratitude to the Korea Heritage Agency for their collaboration. He emphasised that this training is crucial for temple preservation and tourism advancement in the Angkor site. This initiative is part of a broader cooperation project between ANA and the Korea Heritage Agency centered on the restoration of Angkor Wat Temple.

H.E. Long Kosal highlighted that participants include not only government officials but also representatives from the private sector, such as souvenir producers, tourism associations, and tour guides. He anticipates that attendees will gain valuable insights and experiences from Korean heritage experts, which they can apply in their work, particularly in tourism development and crafting heritage-focused souvenirs to boost grassroots economic progress.

Mr. KIM Hyunsung, a representative from the Korea Heritage Agency, expressed his satisfaction with co-organising the training. He noted that the programme not only addresses conservation but also emphasises developing local tourism products and utilising Cambodian cultural heritage effectively. He reaffirmed the Korea Heritage Agency’s commitment to ongoing collaboration for the conservation and development of Angkor resort.

The training course spans four days, from Oct. 7 to 10, 2024, combining theoretical learning with practical site visits to several ancient locations within the Angkor site, including Lvea, Rohal, Bangkong, and Samrong villages.
