Ministry, WB Discuss Water Resources Cooperation


The minister of water resources and meteorology has received the World Bank (WB) country manager for Cambodia to discuss the expansion of the water resources cooperation.

H.E. Minister Thor Chetha met with the WB Country Manager, Ms. Tania Meyer, and her senior delegation on Dec. 17 at the ministry office.

The minister appreciated WB for its continued assistance and cooperation with the ministry, especially in the implementation of the Cambodia Water Security Improvement Project (CaWSIP) and Cambodia Agricultural Sector Diversification Project (CASDP).

H.E. Thor Chetha also asked WB to continue supporting the implementation of water resources and irrigation development policies and providing technical assistance and capacity building to technical staff of the ministry and line departments.

Ms. Tania Meyer thanked the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology for its good cooperation and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting a long-term partnership with the Government of Cambodia, as well as the ministry.

Supporting water resources management and irrigation systems for economic growth is a priority of the WB, she said.

On the same day, H.E. Thor Chetha also held talks with a delegation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) led by its Senior Investment Officer Dr. Rajesh Yadav, during which both sides spoke highly of the good cooperation between Cambodia and AIIB, and vowed to further strengthen and expand their partnership, particularly in the development of water resource and meteorology sectors in Cambodia in the context of climate change and global warming.
