Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received here at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon a senior delegation of the Cambodian Cement Manufacturing Association (CCMA) led by its Board Chairman Mr. Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri.
In the courtesy meeting, the CCMA board chairman briefed the Premier on the progress of the cement industry in Cambodia, saying that the CCMA member companies have invested a total of over US$1.2 billion in the cement industry, generating over 2,700 jobs, of which over 1,900 are local workers.
CCMA can produce and distribute cement to meet local demand and for export to some neighbouring countries, and recently, the association has also become a member of the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM), he added.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised the progress and success of CCMA, which has contributed to the socio-economic development of Cambodia by creating jobs for the people and providing quality and affordable cement.
The Prime Minister highlighted the introduction of policies, measures and incentives by the Royal Government to ensure investment environment, the success and competitiveness of the companies operating in Cambodia.
In response to the CCMA’s request, Samdech Thipadei decided to continue providing tax incentives for local cement manufacturers, and assigned the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, to study a number of additional measures to increase the competitiveness and growth of the cement industry in Cambodia.
