His Majesty King Emphasises National Unity, Progress, and Global Engagement at NA’s 4th Session


The 7th legislature of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia kicked off this morning at the NA Palace its 4th session under the chairmanship of its President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary.

During the opening ceremony, Samdech Khuon Sudary read the Royal Message of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, to the assembly.

In the message, His Majesty the King expressed gratitude and extended warm greetings to the Supreme Patriarchs, Buddhist monks, Members of Parliament, and the Cambodian people.

The monarch appreciated the NA’s active performance during the recess, acknowledging its significant contribution to peace, social order, economic growth, and inclusive development.

His Majesty the King commended the leadership and MPs for engaging with constituencies, addressing challenges, and improving the livelihoods of the people.

He also recognised the tireless efforts of the specialised commissions in reviewing and preparing draft laws proposed by the Royal Government to safeguard the nation’s and citizens’ interests.

The monarch further praised the NA’s diplomatic efforts, including bilateral meetings and participation in international gatherings, for elevating Cambodia’s prestige on the global stage and showcasing its critical role in promoting peace, development, and prosperity in the region and beyond.

His Majesty the King expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the Legislative and Executive branches in advancing the national development strategy, promoting regional and global economic integration, and ensuring sustainable growth, particularly in agro-industry, technology, tourism, and rural development.

He also commended the Royal Government, under the wise and dynamic leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, for maintaining national security and social order, ensuring harmony among citizens, while social and economic activities have thrived across all sectors despite increasingly complex regional and global challenges, including natural disasters and climate change.

The King praised the leadership of Samdech Khuon Sudary, First Vice-President Kittesethabindit Cheam Yeap, and Second Vice-President Vong Sauth for their resolute guidance, which has led to numerous successes for the nation.

Following the Royal Message, H.E. Kittesethabindit Cheam Yeap, First Vice-President, read the summary report on the NA’s activities between the 3rd and 4th sessions.

The session proceeded with discussions and approvals on the following agenda items:

– Election of H.E. Yok Ngoy as a member of the Constitutional Council for a new nine-year mandate.
– Discussions and approval of draft laws related to the Royal Government’s payment guarantees for 24 private investment projects in energy generation, including solar, wind, biomass, and hydroelectric power plants across several provinces, as well as battery storage systems.
– Discussions and approval of a draft law on Fisheries.
– Discussions and approval of the draft law on the National Development Strategy.
