Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on July 1 received visiting Special Advisor to the Prime Minister and Member of the House of Representatives of Japan H.E. NAGASHIMA Akihisa at the Senate Palace, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate.
In the meeting, H.E. NAGASHIMA Akihisa highlighted Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet’s recent visit to Japan, the visit of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) vessels to Ream in April, and the good cooperation between Cambodia and Japan on mine/UXO clearance.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his appreciation of the Cambodia-Japan relationship, adding that through Japan’s good cooperation, Cambodia has dispatched armed personnel to join the UN peacekeeping operations.
The Senate President also updated his guest with firsthand and factual information about the border tension between Cambodia and Thailand.
He requested H.E. NAGASHIMA Akihisa to report the truthful updates to the Japanese Prime Minister and to encourage Thailand to join Cambodia to settle the border tension through the International Court of Justice for a peaceful and lasting resolution.
