Cambodia desires peaceful, friendly, and cooperative borders with all neighbouring countries, based on mutual respect and sustainable development, said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, at a press briefing this morning.
The spokesperson affirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to upholding and implementing the terms of the Joint Ceasefire Declaration between the Cambodian and Thai armed forces. She also emphasised the Kingdom’s adherence to international law, the principles of peaceful coexistence, and multilateral cooperation.
Regarding ceasefire monitoring efforts, she noted that today, the Ministry of National Defence is leading a delegation of diplomats, foreign military attachés, and relevant stakeholders to observe and assess the current situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
“As a next step, Cambodia will work closely with all relevant parties to establish a monitoring mechanism to verify and ensure the full, strict, and sustained implementation of the ceasefire agreement,” she stated.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata also announced that Cambodia will host the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on Aug. 4, as agreed during the ceasefire meeting held in Malaysia on July 28, 2025.
According to the spokesperson, following separate meetings in Phnom Penh on July 28 with H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Minister of National Defence, and H.E. Gen.
