Spokesperson: Cambodia Actively Preparing GBC Meeting


The ceasefire agreement reached in Malaysia on July 28, 2025, is currently being implemented by both sides, and Cambodia is actively preparing to host the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting, said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence.

“This morning, H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, who also serves as Chair of Cambodia’s GBC, presided over a preparatory meeting for the upcoming extraordinary GBC meeting with Thailand, scheduled for Aug. 4, 2025,” she stated.

The preparations are intended to ensure the smooth and successful organisation of the high-level meeting, she added.

According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, as of 5:45 p.m. on July 30, 2025, the total number of displaced people has risen to over 170,000 across five provinces: Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Pursat, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap.
