Over 1,600 Cambodians Receive Free Medical Care from French Volunteer Doctors

More than 1,600 Cambodians have received free medical examinations and treatment from a team of French volunteer doctors, Senior Minister Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), announced.

The initiative, which provides critical healthcare services to underserved communities, also delivered eyeglasses, wheelchairs, medicines, and health consultations to patients in Svay Rieng province.

H.E. Ly Thuch highlighted the programme’s impact during a courtesy meeting on Aug. 12 afternoon at the CMAA headquarters, following a four-week medical mission by volunteer doctors from the SOS Cambodian Kids and S.C.K.L’association. The team treated residents in Chantrea district and Bavet city, continuing an annual humanitarian effort that began in 2018.

Since its inception, the French medical teams have conducted approximately 158 missions across rural provinces, including Kratie, Mondulkiri, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng, offering vital care to marginalised communities.

H.E. Ly Thuch expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Lor Kimsong, Vice President of SOS Cambodian Kids, Ms. Lor Vila, President of S.C.K.L’association, and their team of healthcare professionals and medical students. He praised their dedication and personal contributions, emphasising that their work not only heals physical ailments but also restores hope and dignity to beneficiaries.
