The extraordinary meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RGB) between Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2 will be held today at Choam Sra-ngam International Border Checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey province.
According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, the extraordinary RBC meeting will be co-chaired by Lt. Gen. Pov Heng, Commander of Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Lt. Gen. Boonsin Padklang, Commander of Thailand’s Army Area 2.
“It is anticipated that this meeting will result in more positive outcomes, encouraging both parties to fully and effectively implement the ceasefire, which will lead to peace, stability, and restoration of relations between the two nations as soon as possible,” the spokesperson told a press briefing in Phnom Penh this morning.
Cambodian and Thai military regions have so far held successfully three extraordinary RBC meetings. “These meetings were concluded with clear confirmation of commitment from both parties to respect and implement the ceasefire, as well as the effort to improve the border situation and bilateral relations for mutual benefit,” she underlined.
