The Cambodian Veterans Association has been officially renamed the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, with its membership expanded to include all retirees from the public administration sector.
The decision was made during the association’s Extraordinary Congress held this morning at the Ministry of Interior in Phnom Penh, under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, five-star General and the association’s President.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen was confirmed as the permanent President of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, according to a press release issued after the meeting.
In his remarks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recommended the establishment of association branches in all ministries and institutions to ensure that veterans and retirees remain connected and supported.
The Extraordinary Congress unanimously adopted the association’s 10-year work report (2015–2025), outlined its future directions, and approved a nine-point resolution. The meeting also endorsed the new statute of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, consisting of 16 chapters and 44 articles.
The Congress expressed its gratitude to the Royal Government, relevant ministries and institutions, local authorities, and charitable individuals for their continued support, including financial, material, and spiritual assistance, as well as land allocation and house construction for veterans, in line with the country’s economic development.
By sub-decree dated Aug. 11, 2025, the Royal Government of Cambodia designated May 12 as Veterans and Retirees Day, to be observed annually.
