Cambodia Considers Dominican PM’s Visit as Important Step to Expand Bilateral Ties


Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, received Honourable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

During the courtesy meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly valued the visit of Honourable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, considering it an important step in strengthening relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Samdech Techo shared Cambodia’s experiences in the pursuit of peace and development. Regarding bilateral ties, he encouraged both sides to further expand friendship through cooperation in economic and trade sectors. He also proposed establishing closer collaboration between their political parties to serve as a driving force for broader cooperation in other areas.

On the occasion, the Acting Head of State briefed the visiting Prime Minister on the current Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining an effective ceasefire and working toward a peaceful solution to restore normalcy and stability as before.

In response, Honourable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for sharing his vast experience, particularly in the struggle for national liberation and the peace-building process. He praised Samdech Techo as a leader who brought peace to Cambodia and contributed to addressing various global challenges during his tenure as Prime Minister.

The Dominican Prime Minister welcomed Samdech Techo’s proposal to promote cooperation between the political parties of the two nations and affirmed his readiness to strengthen collaboration with Cambodia.

Regarding the border issue between Cambodia and Thailand, Honourable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit voiced his support for a peaceful resolution and expressed hope that normalcy would soon be restored along the border.
