Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his sincere condolences over the passing of H.E. Gildas Le Lidec, former French Ambassador to Cambodia.
“The passing of H.E. Le Lidec, your husband, is a painful moment for you, your family, and all those who loved him. On behalf of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and on my own behalf, I wish to join you in honouring his memory,” he wrote on Oct. 12 in his condolence message to Mrs. Christiane Le Lidec, spouse of Mr. Gildas Le Lidec.
From 1994 to 1998, he recalled, Ambassador Gildas Le Lidec represented France in Cambodia during a difficult time for the Kingdom. Drawing on the recognised quality of his diplomatic expertise, H.E. Gildas Le Lidec carried out his mission with an unwavering commitment to best serving the interests of both nations. Building and developing a relationship between the two countries, in keeping with the exceptional quality of their long-shared history, represented the challenge. Ambassador Gildas Le Lidec accomplished this with exemplary success.
Ambassador Le Lidec leaves Cambodia a valuable legacy through the cooperation programmes he led or initiated, he continued, emphasising that they are still operational and reflect his vision for the future of the Kingdom.
“On the humanitarian front, H.E. Le Lidec could count on the generosity and effectiveness of the charitable works that you yourself carried out discreetly for the benefit of the poor and of all walks of life,” he said.
