Cambodian Premier and First Lady Visit Civilians Injured in Border Shooting

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony this morning visited three Cambodian civilians who sustained injuries in a shooting incident involving Thai military forces.

The victims are currently receiving special treatment at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.

The shooting occurred on Nov. 12 afternoon, in Prey Chan village, O’ Beichoan commune, O’ Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province.

“Together with my wife, I visited our three innocent Cambodian citizens who were injured during the shooting by Thai military forces in Prey Chan village,” the Prime Minister stated.

The injured were initially transported to the Cambodia-Japan Mongkul Borei Friendship Provincial Hospital, Banteay Meanchey province.

Medical teams there performed successful life-saving surgery before the victims were transferred to Calmette Hospital for advanced care.

The Prime Minister expressed his profound gratitude to local authorities and Cambodian security forces for their swift intervention, which ensured the timely rescue and transport of the wounded civilians.

He also commended the medical teams and health personnel at the Cambodia-Japan Mongkul Borei Friendship Provincial Hospital for their dedicated and successful surgical efforts.

“I wish all three victims a speedy recovery,” he added.

The Premier also extended his deepest condolences to the family of the civilian who was killed in the incident, identified as Dy Nai. “I offer my deepest condolences once again to the family of our late brother Dy Nai. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Reaffirming Cambodia’s national stance, the Prime Minister underscored the country’s unwavering commitment to resolving all issues through peaceful means.

“Resorting to violence or the use of armed force yields no benefit and creates no positive conditions for resolving problems. Instead, it endangers the lives and property of innocent civilians,” Samdech Thipadei stressed.
