Cambodia Supports the Efforts to Ensure Global Food Security

The Royal Government of Cambodia shared the support to the efforts to ensure global food security.
This support made known yesterday by H.E. Keo Chhea, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations, addressed at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on “Framing the Global Dialogue: Addressing Food Insecurity as a Driver of Conflict and Ensuring Food Security,” chaired by the Republic of Sierra Leone as the rotating President of the Security Council for November 2025, at UN Headquarters in New York.

In his statement, H.E. Keo Chhea emphasized that war severely undermines food security, with civilians bearing the greatest burden of its impacts; therefore, protecting civilians must remain central to all efforts.
The Ambassador underlined that any targeting of civilians, including the destruction of agricultural production or other actions pursued for political objectives, is unacceptable and must be strongly condemned.

While underscoring the importance of Cambodia’s 3rd National Strategy for Food Security and Nutrition 2024–2028, the Permanent Representative presented the following key points to the Council: (1) Cambodia calls for strengthened monitoring under Resolution 2417; (2) all parties must respect international humanitarian law, protect humanitarian workers, and refrain from politicizing humanitarian assistance; and (3) national ownership is essential for achieving sustainable food security outcomes.
