His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, departed here on Monday morning for Paris, France, to attend an official event hosted by the prestigious French Academy of Sciences.
His Majesty was seen off at Techo International Airport by Cambodia’s top leadership, including Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen; National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary; and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. Senior royal advisers, ministers, and other high-ranking officials were also present for the departure.
In a royal message to the nation dated Nov. 27, 2025, the monarch informed the public of his temporary absence from the country starting Dec. 1 to attend the French Academy of Sciences event.
During the King’s absence, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has been designated to assume the role of Acting Head of State, as per the established constitutional procedure.
His Majesty is scheduled to return to Cambodia later this week.
